1) Using a credit card allows you to pay as little as 5% of your balance at the end of the month vs paying the entire balance at the end of the month. This gives you much greater flexability.
2) By paying your credit cards on time you establish a credit history that is available through all the credit reporting agencies and that will benefit you in the future. Open accounts can generate some positive credit history, but are not rated as strong as the major credit cards.
